State Band Festival

Dear Parents,

We are in the final stages of preparing for our Intermediate and Advanced Bands for State Band Contest (now called Music Performance Assessment) next Wednesday, March 10. This will be held at Calera High School

Your student (Intermediate or Advanced Band) should have brought home a handout with the schedule AND a permission form last week. We are putting the schedule below and have attached a permission form to this email in case your child “forgot”.

This is a very important performance and has required a lot of work and effort on the part of our students. We are asking that you please assist us in helping your student is ready for Wednesday morning without last minute problems.

• · Both Intermediate and Advanced Band need to take Uniform Vests home on Tuesday afternoon.
• · Intermediate Band members need to be seated in the band room, in full uniform, ready to play by 7:30 AM on Wednesday morning. We realize this might cause extra planning for ride-sharing, etc. among the few people that ride a late bus. Please get this worked out for this one day. If there is a major problem , call or email us ASAP.
• · Advanced Band members need to come to school fully dressed in uniform that morning.
• · Please look at your student before they leave home. Make sure that the uniform looks neat and that they have black socks, shoes, and bow tie.
• · Please make sure your student’s instrument and binder are marked with their name and school. There will be hundreds of other students at Calera High School that day.
• · They need to leave ipods, gameboys, etc. at home. We will allow them to call home after we leave the mall.
• · The 9 weeks science exams will be given to band members on Thursday

State Band Festival

The Bragg M. S. Bands are scheduled to perform at the State Band Festival on Wednesday March 10 at Calera High School. The Intermediate Band will perform at 9:20 and the Advanced Band will perform at 10:55. All students need to take their vest home with them on Tuesday night and show up to school fully dressed on Wednesday morning. All students should stay fully dressed until we get back to the school.

· White, Long Sleeve, Button Down Shirt

· Maroon Vest (checked out from Bragg Band)

· Black Pants

· Black Shoes

· Black Socks

· Black Bow Tie

(We will wear also this at the Six Flags Competition and the Spring Concert)

*Bring money for lunch at the Galleria.
